As a concerned constituent of U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett, I am writing to demand immediate action to end ongoing U.S. financial and military support for the war in Palestine. The level of destruction and loss of life in Gaza is catastrophic and has been described by many international observers and human rights organizations as a genocide. Continuing to provide unrestricted military aid makes the United States, and by extension, Rep. Barrett, complicit in this tragedy.
While the recent push for legislation like the “Block the Bombs Act” (H.R. 3565) is a vital first step in preventing the delivery of specific, deadly munitions like the 2,000-pound bombs used in densely populated areas, it would not be enough on its own. The U.S. must go further. We need a complete cessation of all military funding and a demand for an immediate, permanent ceasefire.
Our representative has a moral obligation to protect human rights and uphold international law, not fuel a conflict that is causing immense suffering. I urge Representative Barrett to listen to their constituents, publicly support an end to all U.S. funding for the military campaign in Gaza, and champion a lasting peace.
The time for half-measures or silence is over. Rep. Barrett must act now to stop the bombs and end U.S. involvement in this ongoing humanitarian crisis.
