Four constituents made an appointment and traveled to the U.S. Capitol to speak with Republican 7th District U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett on Feb. 26 in Washington, D.C.
Though the congressman saw us, he did not acknowledge us; instead, Legislative Director Alex Charow met with us.
Charow took us through the basement cafeteria full of people eating lunch. He failed to take a single note of what we were saying. Barrett made it clear that even though constituents can make an appointment to see him, he doesn’t care to say hello or hear what we have to say.
We asked when there would be a town hall with the Congressman; Charow did not have an answer. Clearly, Barrett did not want to interact with his own constituents who had flown to D.C. specifically with a scheduled appointment. Frankly, we found this to be insulting. We were deeply disappointed with his constituent relations, which should be concerning every voter in our district.
