As one of U.S. Rep. Tom Barrett’s constituents, I am urging you to immediately ask him to co-sponsor H.R. 3565, the Block the Bombs Act.
Here’s why this is so urgent:
• U.S. Weapons are fueling the crisis
The U.S. is the primary supplier of the bombs and ammunition Israel is using to devastate Gaza, leading to catastrophic civilian casualties.
• It violates international law
The Israeli government faces credible accusations of war crimes and genocide at the International Criminal Court for its conduct.
• Experts are sounding the alarm
A former State Department official, Annelle Sheline, resigned in protest and is now calling on Congress to pass this specific bill to stop U.S. complicity.
The Block the Bombs Act is a common-sense bill that stops the flow of the most destructive offensive weapons — like 2,000-pound bombs and white phosphorus — while asserting Congress’s vital oversight role. This does not mean that we can’t support Israel from an attack, with the boots on the ground that we have on bases, where they are already stationed.
