Students at Livingston ESA are cultivating their agricultural skills with hands-on experience planning, planting and maintaining a sustainable community garden with a project funded by a grant through The Home Depot’s Community Foundation.

In addition to what they are learning, students in LESA’s W-A-Y+ Program also gain volunteer experience. As the garden prospers, students will work with local organizations to distribute the fresh produce to community members in need.

“Students from all of the Agency’s programs – not just students in the W-A-Y+ Program – and staff will have an will have the opportunity to experience working in a garden and learning agricultural skills,” said Ted Kroll, director of adult and alternative education at LESA, including the W-A-Y+ Program. “Perhaps it will also kindle an interest in creating their own sustainable garden.”

For more information about the community garden or the W-A-Y+ Program, contact Kroll at (517) 980-2045 or at TedKroll@LivingstonESA.org.

Livingston ESA is a service agency made up of educators, leaders, collaborators, number-crunchers, school bus drivers, techies, and relationship builders that is dedicated to the education and success of each student in Livingston County.
