It’s the end of an era. The last Big Boy Restaurant in Livingston County — located at 10587 Highland Road in Hartland — is closing next week. The restaurant’s owners have been serving up the famous Big Boy double-decker burgers, Slim Jim sandwiches, and hot fudge brownies for 41 years.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the closing of our beloved restaurant,” posted Nick and Jean Shaieb on Facebook. “The time has come for us to big farewell to the place that has been our second home, where countless memories were made, and laughter filled the air.”
The last day the restaurant will be open is Memorial Day, Monday, May 29.
“Thank you, Hartland, for embracing us, for allowing us to be part of your lives, and for being the reason we pursued our passion for all these years,” the Shaiebs posted. “You will always hold a special place in our hearts. Hope you will come say goodbye to all of us.”
The Brighton Big Boy closed last month, sparking rumors of a Chick-fil-A opening in its place. The Howell Big Boy became Mourad’s Grill in 2016. The Big Boy in Fowlerville closed its doors in 2008.
