Lake Trust Credit Union (Lake Trust), a community-based credit union serving nearly 200,000 members and businesses throughout Michigan, supported 39 Michigan-based nonprofit organizations — including 12 in Livingston County — as part of its eighth annual Powered by Good Day. A total of 322 Lake Trust team members volunteered their time throughout the day and the Lake Trust Foundation donated a sum of $39,000 to participating nonprofits.
“Powered by Good Day has become a beloved tradition and an opportunity for the entire team to come together to bring Lake Trust’s mission to life directly in communities we serve,” said David Snodgrass, Lake Trust’s President and CEO, in a release. “As a purpose-driven credit union, this day of support truly reflects our commitment to uplifting and enhancing the wellbeing of not just our members but the communities they are a part of.”
On Monday, Oct. 13, Lake Trust team members could be found supporting community centers, food banks, homeless shelters and more across the state of Michigan. Additionally, the Lake Trust Foundation — an independent entity of Lake Trust — donated $1,000 to each organization where team members volunteered, including:
• Community Catalysts, Howell
• Family Impact Center, Fowlerville
• Freedom River, Brighton
• Gleaners Community Food Bank, Howell
• Habitat for Humanity, Brighton
• Howell Carnegie District Library, Howell
• LACASA Center, Howell
• Livingston County Catholic Charities, Howell
• Love INC, Howell
• The Ivy Table, Brighton
• Torch 180, Fowlerville
• Work Skills Corporation, Brighton
For the first time, Lake Trust members were able to join team members on the day of service by hosting a blood drive with the American Red Cross at the Lake Trust Headquarters. The blood drive brought in 40 total donors — 29 being first-time donors and five being type O donors — for a collection of 42 units of blood that have the potential to save up to 126 lives.
