LACASA urgently needs prepaid gas cards for clients

Sharing is caring!

LACASA Center, an independent nonprofit advocating for survivors of child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual violence, is putting out an urgent call for donations for prepaid gas gift cards for clients in its Crisis Shelter and/or Transitional Supportive Housing program. Prepaid gas cards provide survivors with the means to access essential services like medical appointments, counseling sessions, job interviews, childcare, and safe housing outside of LACASA.

LACASA provides all services to clients free of charge, and relies on donations to carry out its mission. Maureen Wright, LACASA’s vice president of adult services, said a seemingly small contribution of a gas card can have a profound impact on survivors’ ability to rebuild their lives and achieve long-term safety and stability.

“Many of the individuals and families we serve come to us in emergency situations that involve financial strain,” Wright said. “Reliable transportation is a critical lifeline, and gas cards empower them with the independence and mobility they urgently need to get back on the road to a future free from violence.”

Prepaid gas gift cards can be ordered online from many gas stations, including Shell,Mobil, and Marathon. Gas gift cards are also available at most supercenters, grocery stores, pharmacies, and gas stations, and donations toward their purchase can also be made by clicking here. Increments of $25 are preferred.

Donations can be sent to or dropped off at LACASA Center, 1920 Tooley Road in Howell, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Monday through Friday.
