LACASA Center — Livingston County’s independent nonprofit organization that provides critical services for victims of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault — recently recognized Chem-Trend, L.P., with the 2021 Livingston County Changemaker Award.

The award was presented to Chem-Trend’s Senior Director of Global Human Resources, Ursula Misangyi, at LACASA’s 40th anniversary celebration on Oct. 10, 2021. The retro 80s-themed event, Electric Avenue, commemorated four decades of the agency’s history.

“Livingston County is fortunate to have the philanthropic support of Chem-Trend. This global company, which is headquartered in our county, invests in the community and makes positive contributions to many local nonprofit organizations,” said LACASA President & CEO Bobette Schrandt.

“The leadership team at Chem-Trend, along with the company’s employees, have made it a priority to support LACASA’s mission and spearhead innovative programs that help prevent interpersonal violence,” Schrandt said. “Not only does this corporation fund programs that have far-reaching impact, its workforce serves as volunteers in a variety of capacities at our agency.”

Chem-Trend is the primary sponsor of two critical programs at LACASA: LEAD (Leadership, Education and Awareness for the Development of Healthy Relationships) program and the Mentors in Violence Prevention program. Both initiatives are designed to teach high school students about the importance of identifying unhealthy relationships, fostering healthy relationships, and preventing interpersonal violence. The programs are taught in high schools throughout Livingston County by LACASA’s Community Education Department.

“In addition to the programs LACASA provides for abuse victims, survivors and their families, we are dedicated to teaching future generations about how to identify and prevent abuse. Chem-Trend shares in this commitment and we applaud the organization’s investment in our youth education programs,” said Schrandt.

Founded in 1960 and headquartered in Howell, Chem-Trend is a leader in the design, development, and manufacturing of high-performance release agents, purging compounds, and other process chemical specialties. Today, with parent company Freudenberg, Chem-Trend is truly a global presence, serving nearly every manufacturing industry and leading the release agent and purging compound industries in innovation, research, and sustainability.

“It is a great honor to accept this award and for Chem-Trend being recognized as a changemaker in the county,” said Ursula Misangyi, Chem-Trend’s Global Human Resources Sr. Director.

“It has been a privilege to support LACASA over the years alongside the strong support of our parent company Freudenberg,” Misangyi said. “We are especially proud of our employees who spent countless hours volunteering with the organization, including participation in LACASA’s Teen Advisory Council, which provides valuable education on topics such as cyber security and financial independence for our youth community. We look forward to continuing our relationship with LACASA throughout the coming years.”
