LACASA Collection, the upscale resale clothing and furniture store that helps fund services for local victims of abuse will be relocating to a larger location at Tanger Outlets Howell in the coming weeks, allowing even more customers to fulfill the store’s mission to “Shop for Good” and “Donate for Good.”
LACASA Collection opened in August 2017 as a way to provide a sustainable funding stream for LACASA Center, an independent nonprofit serving victims and survivors of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault. The current storefront, located in the Kroger/Crossroads plaza in Howell, has become a staple of the secondhand clothing and furniture scene, and also provides LACASA clients with a comfortable setting to shop with dignity for the things they need at no charge.
“We are thrilled with the growth in popularity LACASA Collection has seen over the past seven years, and the generosity with which Livingston County residents have donated valuable items to support our store,” said LACASA President and CEO Bobette Schrandt. “The new location will give us the opportunity to be an even greater resource to the community, and to spread word of our mission even further.”
During the month of June, LACASA Collection will wind down operations at the current location and begin renovations at the new store, which will occupy three storefronts atTanger Outlets Howell, next to the Polo Ralph Lauren Factory Store.
“It will take the proverbial village to make this move, but we’re thrilled about what the future holds for LACASA Collection,” said LACASA Collection manager Amanda Loomis. “The community has supported us so generously with donations, and we hope they’ll also consider helping us now.”
LACASA Collection has put together a wish list of needed items and opportunities to help with the move, which can be found HERE. Contractors/skilled tradespeople interested in donating their services to assist with renovations should email shop@lacasacollection.org.
The new store is expected to open mid-summer, with an exact date to be announced in the coming weeks.
