The Howell Rotary Club is taking pre-orders for family-size containers of its popular Howell Melon Ice Cream. The pre-packaged and available-just-once-a-year ice cream, produced by Guernsey Dairy with Howell melons and other fresh ingredients, always sells out quickly.
What makes this ice cream so special?
The recipe was initially developed by Frank Spagnuolo, who owned a soda fountain, ice cream and general store in downtown Howell, produced the ice cream every year. When that business closed permanently, the Howell Rotary Club stepped in to handle sales; the ice cream is produced just once a year by Guernsey Dairy in Northville, specifically for the Howell Rotary Club and Howell Melon Festival.
Place your pre-order by clicking here, and then pick up your sweet treat on designated pick up times: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7; 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9; and 5-7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11.
Individual servings will also be available on the lawn of the Historic Livingston County Courthouse during the Howell Melon Festival, which runs Aug. 15-17.
