Is Chick-fil-A coming to Brighton?

Start

Sharing is caring!

After the Brighton Big Boy at Grand River Avenue and Challis Road abruptly closed this week — apparently for good — rumors started flying that a Chick-fil-A would be opening in that spot.

While the Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A — the largest chain specializing in chicken sandwiches, operating 2,909 restaurants in 48 states, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico — announced that it would be opening a new location in the fall, its newest Michigan location will be in Flint, not Brighton.

So the rumors of a Chick-fil-A moving into the old Big Boy spot are just that: rumors.

“Sorry to disappoint some of you,” read a post on the City of Brighton’s Facebook page. “The city has not received any communication or permits for a Chick-fil-A.”

There are currently 25 Chick-fil-A locations open in Michigan, according to the Chick-fil-A website. In addition to the locations within a short drive of Livingston County — Novi, Northville, Okemos and Lansing — there are also restaurants in Allen Park, Battle Creek, Cascade, Detroit Medical Center, Detroit Metropolitan Airport, Eastern Michigan University, Grand Rapids (2 locations), Holland, Kalamazoo, Livonia, Monroe, Northville, Norton Shores, Okemos, Shelby Township, Troy (Somerset Collection North), Southfield, Traverse City, Walker, Westnedge, Woodhaven, and Wyoming.
