A 16-year-old Howell girl is dead after being ejected in a two-car rollover crash at Oak Grove Road and Grove Meadows Boulevard in Howell Township on Monday.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the scene of the crash at approximately 9:57 p.m.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the girl was turning onto Oak Grove Road from Grove Meadows Boulevard when her vehicle was struck by the Dodge Charger, which was being driven by an 18-year-old Howell resident who was heading north on Oak Grove Road.

The impact of the crash caused the Chevrolet Cruze to leave the roadway and overturn, ejecting the girl, who was pronounced deceased at the scene by Livingston County EMS.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

Speed appears to be the contributing factor in the crash. The roadway remained closed for 4-1/2 hours for investigation and clean up. The incident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Howell Area Fire Department and Livingston County EMS.
