Four Howell High School Economics students earned second place in Michigan in the Stock Market Game competition, in which over 1,500 students from more than 40 schools competed this year.

Representing Howell High School were Bradley Hale, Isaac Graham, Ethan Berendt-Pomnitz and Andrew Warnecke.

The Stock Market Game is an online simulation of the global capital markets, engaging students in grades 4-12 in the work of economics, investing and personal finance, and allowing them to explore the fundamentals of personal finance and investing, while practicing content and skills in math, English language arts, economics, social studies, and other subjects

In the online simulation, students start with an imaginary $100,000 they can invest in a simulation that mirrors the performance of the actual stock market. They can choose from a range of investments, including stocks and bonds; they trade in real-time, and they can follow the performance of their investments online.

The Howell High School team had a wide range of investments including EFTs to help diversify their portfolios. The Howell team’s thorough research ensured their high standing throughout the three months of the competition.
