A man police say had a history of disputes with staffers at Metro Studios Ink, 104 W. Grand River Ave in downtown Howell, was killed with a single shot Friday at the business while causing a disturbance.

Police said an unidentified person in the business fired one shot after Sean Thompson, 46, of Howell, made threats of violence. Police said that at this time there is no indication that Thompson was armed, but the case remains under investigation.

The suspect was arrested and remains lodged at the Livingston County Jail pending arraignment.

The incident is not connected in any way to the Michigan Challenge Balloonfest, which is taking place in Howell this weekend.
