A 79-year-old Howell man suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash on Latson Road, south of Highland Road (M-59) near the USA 2 GO station at about 7:05 a.m. Monday, March 11.
According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado being driven by the Howell man was leaving the USA 2 GO and failed to yield to through traffic while turning south onto Latson Road. His vehicle was hit by a 2022 Dodge Ram 3500 driven by a 16-year-old Howell girl who was heading north on Latson Road.
The driver of the Chevrolet Colorado, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to The University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor by Livingston County EMS. The driver of the Dodge Ram was uninjured and refused EMS on scene. The passenger of the Dodge Ram, a 14-year-old Howell boy,a sustained no injuries and was seat belted at the time of the crash.
Speed does not appear to be a contributing factor in the crash. The road remained closed for approximately two hours for the investigation and clean up.
Deputies were assisted by personnel from Howell Area Fire Department and Livingston County EMS.
The incident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau
