Christopher Michael Beall, a 35-year-old Howell man, was arraigned Monday on one count of open murder in the death of his roommate, a 57-year-old Fowlerville man, in the basement of a home in the 6000 block of Sargent Road in Handy Township. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.

Bond was set at $1 million by 53rd District Court Judge Daniel Bain. According to a release from the Michigan State Police, Beall’s next court appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m Dec. 3.

Troopers from the Brighton Post of the Michigan State Police were dispatched at about 1 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, after another resident of the Sargent Road home called 911 to report that he found the victim on the basement floor after hearing him arguing with Beall, who had fled the home.

Troopers, using a K-9 and assisted by deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, searched for the suspect after the victim was pronounced deceased.

Another call to 911 came in at about 2:25 a.m. from a resident in the 5700 block of Millett Road, saying that someone was pounding on their door. Deputies went to the home, determined the person at the door was the suspect, and took him into custody.
