Howell High School student Chloe Crandall has been named to the 2026 United States Archery Team in the U15 Barebow division.
For those unfamiliar, barebow is a competitive division in archery in which a recurve bow is used without a sight, stabilizers, or other aiming aids. Barebow, which is similar to what you see in the Olympics, requires even more precision and consistency from athletes because they don’t use sights, stabilizers or a clicker.
Crandall’s archery journey began in middle school with Howell Archery’s NASP program. When her first NASP season ended, she wasn’t ready to put down her bow and began training at Demmer Archery Center in Lansing as part of its Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) program.
In just a few short years, Chloe has built an impressive competitive resume:
• Multiple national championships with USA Archery, S3DA, and NFAA
• Five national records with USA Archery
• First-place finishes at both USA Archery JOAD Indoor Nationals and JOAD Target Nationals (Albuquerque, NM)
• 2025 NFAA Indoor Nationals Champion (Chicago, IL)
• 2025 S3DA National Shooter of the Year after sweeping Indoor Nationals, 3D Nationals, and Outdoor Target Nationals
Crandall’s next big goal is winning the Lancaster Archery Classic — one of the most exciting archery tournaments in the world. She placed 15th last year out of more than 100 adult women from around the world, an outstanding achievement for a 13-year-old.
