The Howell High School Hope Squad, a peer-to-peer prevention program that provides support and resources for students dealing with suicidal thoughts, presented at the Michigan State Board of Education at its Tuesday, Oct. 10, meeting.
Led by Principal Jason Schrock, several Hope Squad members and advisors presented a short program about the success of the Howell High School program. You can see the presentation here; it begins near the start of the meeting, at the 25:30 mark.
There are currently 40 Howell High School students trained in the program, 10 from each grade level.
As Hope Squad president Addison Watts said at the meeting: “Everybody has the ability to change a life or save one.”
