The Howell basketball team rallied in the fourth quarter to put away Brighton on Friday night.
Saturday, less than 24 hours later, the Highlanders will have to do it again.
Howell, which beat Brighton 50-39 on Friday, plays host to Salem at 1 p.m. in a game rescheduled after Salem had to suspend its season due to Covid=19 concerns two weeks ago.
The game will be broadcast on The Livingston Post starting at 12:50. Click here for the link.
Howell pulled away from Brighton in the fourth quarter and capitalized when the Bulldogs had to foul to stop the clock.
Ryan Cirella made the most of that opportunity, going 9-for-10 from the free-throw line down the stretch. He and Carter Bandemir each had 12 points to lead the Highlanders. Danny Honkala had seven points and 13 rebounds.
The win lifted Howell (5-3 overall, 4-1 KLAA West) into second place in the division after Hartland lost to Plymouth 47-33. Salem (5-3, 2-2) slipped to fifth place after a 69-32 blowout loss at first-place Canton on Friday.
A Howell win would set up a showdown for first place at Canton on Tuesday night. The game will mark the end of the first half of the conference season.
