Last season was a hard act to follow for the Howell boys basketball team, a magical run that saw the Highlanders reach the Division 1 semifinals.

But this year’s team has its goals in front of it, the first being the KLAA championship, and that quest begins tonight in a game that will be broadcast on The Livingston Post. Click here for a link.

The Highlanders (14-4), who won the KLAA West, will take on East Division runner-up Westland John Glenn at Howell High School. The winner will play either Canton or Belleville for the league title on March 5.

Canton broke a tie with Northville by winning a coin flip after the teams tied for second place and split the first two tiebreakers.

Glenn (12-3 overall) lost twice to Belleville (15-1), which was undefeated during the KLAA season.

It’s the final scheduled game at home for Howell this season, although the Highlanders could play host to the league championship game if Canton wins tonight. Tonight’s losers will play on Tuesday.
