A lot of people in Howell go all-out for Halloween, and Gavin Gillaspie of 613 Bates Street is at the top of the list.
The son of Jason and Gina Gillaspie, Gavin – with help from his younger brother Reid – has spent the last few weeks creating a fun and scary Halloween trail in their front yard. (See the video below.)

The fully illuminated trail allows trick-or-treaters to wind their way past all sorts of animatronics, gravestones, skeletons, scary creatures and more, with candy waiting for them at the end. There will be a fog machine putting an eerie mist over the whole thing.
Gavin said his favorite thing on the Halloween trail is the eight-and-a-half-foot-tall Grim Reaper, which they just bought this year.

The best part of it all? Gavin and Reid paid for the whole thing themselves.
“We’ve done this by mowing lawns, shoveling snow, raking leaves, doing other odd jobs,” Gavin said.
They’ve had the Halloween trail for the past few years and keep buying new items for it every year.
Gavin invites anyone trick-or-treating in Howell this year to stop by. Bates Street is located on the city’s northeast side, near Thompson Lake and Page Field.
