Ferras Azmi Twal

Ferras Azmi Twal, 33, of Hartland, was arraigned Monday on charges of felonious assault and felony firearm in Livingston County 53rd District Court. Twal is currently lodged at the Livingston County Jail on a $150,000 cash or surety bond.

Twal was arrested after a “domestic-related altercation” with another man at about 11:25 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18, in which a shot was fired. No one was injured during the altercation, and the two men involved are described by authorities as “mutual acquaintances.”

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the area of Matthew Lane and Clark Road in Hartland Township for reports of an assault with a shot fired inside of a residence.

Deputies were advised that all parties involved were still inside the residence. Initial responding deputies set up a perimeter on the home and observed a male subject come to the door. The subject was told to exit the home, but went back in. Within a couple seconds, he reappeared, and this time he followed commands to exit and was detained. The rest of the occupants also came out of the house and the house was cleared.

Deputies were assisted on scene by the Michigan State Police.
