Nate Statly, the 2020 Hartland High School grad injured in the Feb. 13 mass shooting at Michigan State University, remains in the intensive care unit at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing.
Statly was shot when a lone gunman opened fire at Berkey Hall and the MSU union, killing three students and injuring five others before taking his own life. Statly is the last of the five injured students still hospitalized.
The recovery process for Statly, who suffered severe head trauma, has been “very slow,” according to his brother, Josh Statly, who posted previously that his brother’s “path to recovery will be a long and difficult one.”
“As far as Nate’s progress, not much has developed,” he said. “All that we ask now is that you keep him in your thoughts and prayers as we move down this long and difficult road.”
He said that the family is staying hopeful and optimistic for a miracle.
“He keeps showing up every day strong,” Josh Statly wrote. “To quote one of the nurses caring for Nate, ‘This kid just keeps beating everyone’s expectations.'”
