As Election Day looms, Livingston County’s online donations to the 2024 presidential campaigns tops half a million dollars, with Vice President Kamala Harris raising $399,000 and President Donald Trump raising $182,900, according to an analysis of the data by The Washington Post.
Harris has raised over $1 billion since entering the race three months ago. But will Harris’ fundraising prowess translate to a general election win?
According to The Washington Post analysis, there’s just one ZIP code in Livingston County in which Trump received more in online donations than Harris: Fowlerville’s 48836, where 81 donors gave a total of $10,000 to the Trump campaign, and 105 donors gave $8,000 to the Harris campaign.
In all, nearly 4,100 online donations were made in Livingston County, with the average online donation to Trump coming in at 75 cents higher than the average online donation to Harris: $142.55 for Trump, and $141.80 for Harris.
How did your ZIP code donate?
The Washington Post reported that in all but six states — Alabama, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Wyoming — more people donated to Harris than to Trump.
The Washington Post analyzed online contributions with voter registration data. “There are outside groups that don’t have to disclose donors and that make up some of the spending for both Harris and Trump, so this is only a part of the funds backing the two candidates,” the newspaper wrote. “The result is still a detailed snapshot, down to the Zip code level, of who clicked and tapped to send a few dollars to the leading candidates since Trump launched his campaign in November 2022.”
