Elizabeth Hauptman

Elizabeth Hauptman of Hamburg Township is running in the Democratic primary for the District 8 seat on the Livingston County Board of Commissioners. District 8 covers parts of Genoa and Hamburg townships; the seat is currently held by Republican Nick Fiani.

Hauptman said she is committed to promoting responsible growth and environmental conservation. Her vision for the county is one of sustainable progress: preserving its unique character while addressing pressing environmental concerns.

In a release, Hauptman said she is focused on keeping gravel pits and asphalt plants out of her district, and dedicated to maintaining the county as a haven for nature enthusiasts. Her agenda prioritizes tackling flood-related issues, combating pollution in lakes and rivers, addressing PFAS contamination, spearheading conservation efforts to safeguard outdoor traditions, advocating for essential road repairs, and ensuring equitable access to high-speed internet.

Haputman is a clean water ambassador for EGLE and Michigan field coordinator for Moms Clean Air Force. She is actively engaged with environmental initiatives, including championing clean electric school buses. She facilitates a free Mom’s and Caregivers group, as well as coaches her son’s basketball team.

“I would be honored to stand as the voice of District 8,” Hauptman said. “My candidacy is rooted in a genuine desire to serve my neighbors, protect the natural beauty of our home, and ensure a bright future for our children. Together, we can build a future that preserves our environment while fostering a thriving community for all.”
