A Howell woman is dead after a two-vehicle rollover crash at the intersection of Rickett and Maltby roads in Green Oak Township at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday, April 8.

According to a release from the Green Oak Township Police Department, first responders found three people —an 81-year-old Whitmore Lake man driving a silver Jeep; a 35-year-old Howell woman driving a blue GMC Terrain and her passenger, a 50-year-old Howell woman — pinned inside their vehicles and requiring extrication. Emergency personnel freed the people: the 35-year-old Howell woman was pronounced deceased at the scene; the 50-year-old Howell woman who was the passenger in the Terrain, and the 81-year-old man driving the Jeep sustained serious injuries and were transported by Livingston County EMS to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor.

The accident remains under investigation, but the preliminary report and witness accounts indicate that the Jeep had been traveling at a high rate of speed before colliding with the Terrain. The release did not include information on which road or from which direction the vehicles were traveling at the time of the crash.

The Green Oak Township Police Department was assisted by the Green Oak Township Fire Department, Livingston County EMS, Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Brighton City Police Department, Metroparks Police Authority, University of Michigan Survival Flight, Hamburg Township Fire Department, and Livingston County Central Dispatch
