Great Start Livingston launched the county’s third StoryWalk® in downtown Howell on June 19.
A StoryWalk is a literacy-boosting project that places an illustrated children’s book along a walking route and encourages physical activity. The downtown Howell “Stories in Storefronts” walk features the book “Sally’s Great Balloon Adventure” by Stephen Huneck, and has 16 stops in the windows of businesses downtown.
This story is the third StoryWalk in the county. Others include “One-Dog Canoe” by Mary Casanova at Oceola Township Hall, and “Cat’s Colors” by Airlie Anderson at Centennial Park in Fowlerville.
“We are thankful to our community partners and local libraries for making these StoryWalks possible,” said Robin Schutz, Coordinator for Great Start Livingston. “We are excited for families to be able to use these StoryWalks to talk, read, sing and play with their children while helping to develop important early literacy skills.”
More StoryWalks are planned for Livingston County and will be announced soon.
