Governor appoints Brighton woman to gun violence prevention board

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer appointed Danielle Hagaman-Clark of Brighton to the Michigan Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.

The task force, housed within the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, was created by Executive Order 2024-4 and is charged with identifying the root causes of gun violence, compiling and reports relevant data, maximizing existing resources, soliciting perspectives from diverse stakeholders, and recommending policy to save lives.

The group is comprised of members reflecting a wide range of stakeholders including state department directors, medical experts, law enforcement professionals, tribal representatives, and more.

Hagaman-Clark is the Criminal Bureau Chief at the Department of Attorney General. Previously, she served as an assistant attorney general of Michigan and director of the Violence Against Women Program in the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan.

Hagaman-Clark, who earned a Doctor of Law degree from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, is a practicing member of the Michigan State Bar.

Hagaman-Clark is appointed to represent individuals with experience working with survivors of domestic violence and abuse on the Gun Violence Prevention Task Force for a term commencing Aug. 29, 2024, and expiring at the pleasure of the Governor, no later than Aug. 29, 2028.

This appointment is not subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
