Genoa Township resident Rick Soucy has filed as a Republican candidate for the Genoa Township Board. There are nine candidates running for four four-year terms.
Soucy, 75, prides himself on having a broad range of current and past business experiences, including as the CEO of a Pacific Rim industrial chemical company, and a senior partner in an international advertising company. He currently serves as a division manager of National Write Your Congressman, non-partisan legislative research firm.
“My past and present business experience, as well as my passion for community involvement, led me to a point where I feel it is my civic duty to be involved,” Soucy said. “I work every day to lead by example to my children and grandchildren of the need for fiscal conservative responsibility and servant leadership in our community.”
Accordingly, Soucy currently sits on the board of directors of the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts, and is a member of both the Brighton Optimist Club and the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce. He believes his work experience will help him understand the business portion of his role as a trustee, and his civic engagement poises him to better understand the needs of the community as a whole.
“Common sense solutions are needed to maintain the right balance for the quality of life we want in our Township,” he said. “If elected I will fight to preserve that balance.”
Soucy has lived in Genoa Township with his wife, Susan, for 16 years. The couple have five adult children and three grandchildren.
