The Portal Paranormal Society is teaming up once again with the historic Howell Theater for its popular public ghost hunts, and it’s adding an interesting event to celebrate the ninth year of their collaboration.

Ken Suminski of Brighton, one of the founders of the Portal Paranormal Society, said that two special Saturday events added this year will include  gallery readings with psychic medium Christine Peaphon.

“She has a long history of psychic abilities,” Suminski said. “She uses those abilities to help people and help the spirits.”

Peaphon has been a paranormal investigator for over two decades. She realized she possessed paranormal abilities at a young age, and uses her gifts to help the living and the dead.

Gallery readings are performed for groups of people. Not everyone present is guaranteed to be read, and there’s no set limit as to how long the various readings run.

“It all depends on the spirits,” Suminski said.

The expanded Saturday events will also include a ghost hunt.

This year, there will be also be a special ghost hunt event on Halloween.

All events are limited to 20 people, and all proceeds go toward the restoration of the at the nearly 100-year-old Historic Howell Theater.

People gather in the lobby of the Historic Howell Theater for a past Portal Paranormal Society ghost hunt.

The mission of the Society is always to first be skeptical and debunk, and to rule out all reasonable explanations before declaring an experience to be paranormal. What the Society has learned over the years is that the Historic Howell Theater is, indeed, haunted.

“We love doing shows at the Howell Theater,” Suminski said. “It’s a decently active site and we’re familiar with the residents (ghosts),” that he describes as “fairly benign.”
