The Board of Directors for Livingston County United Way (LCUW) has hired Patricia Sliter of Fowlerville as its new executive director. Sliter replaces interim director Mark Robinson, who has served in that position since in June.

Sliter, who has lived in Livingston County for over 30 years, comes to LCUW with experience in both corporate and nonprofit work, and brings with her a strong development and fundraising background. She’s also built solid relationships that helped grow and expand the organizations with which she previously worked.

In the nonprofit world, Sliter was the senior director of corporate and community engagement for Samaritas, Michigan’s largest foster care and adoption organization, which also provides substance use disorder services, and helps resettle families from all over the world. Sliter has also been a donor relations director for The Salvation Army.

Sliter has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Northeastern University in Boston, and studied fundraising management at Indiana University – Purdue University in Indianapolis.

“My capability to recognize opportunities, form strategic alliances, foster cooperative teams, and make the best use of limited resources has served as the foundation of my professional path” Sliter said. “I am excited for the opportunity to lead Livingston County United Way.”

The LCUW received over 120 applications for the position.

“Our search team did its due diligence and put a lot of time and energy into finding the right person for this position” said Katie Pikkarainen, president of the LCUW board. “We also want to thank EctoHR, Inc. for its strategic support in this process.”
