Two students in Amanda Tomassi’s News Broadcasting class at Fowlerville High School created the winning 2020 Livingston County United Way video.
Rebekah Leonard, a senior, and Lydia Luark, a junior, faced with the additional challenge of having to continue their classroom assignment from home. Despite that, the students captured the good work of Livingston County United Way, and how the community can take steps to make a difference. Footage of people walking in different directions was used to illustrate the idea that everyone takes their own path in life, but “United Way is there to help you every step of the way.”
With a powerful call of action to “work along the side of those who need it the most, because great things happen when we live united.” The video encourages the community to take action by either giving, advocating, or volunteering their time. The video demonstrated some of the steps taken by Livingston County United Way to be a positive force of change in the community.
Both students received a $250 prize from the competition’s 2020 sponsor, Cleary University.
A group of local professionals reviewed this year’s submissions and selected the winning video, which will be shown to the community at future local presentations, on the Livingston County United Way website, in social media and more.
