Forums set for Howell, Brighton city council races

In preparation for the Nov. 4, 2025, general elections, the League of Women Voters of Livingston County (LWVLC) has invited all candidates on the ballot for the city council races in Brighton and Howell to participate in two opportunities to share their priorities and positions.

Candidate forums

• Howell City Council
There are six candidates running for three seats on the Howell City Council. A virtual/Zoom event is set for 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, facilitated by the Howell Carnegie District Library. Register for a Zoom link to watch the event live at https://howelllibrary.libcal.com/event/15147486.The forum will be recorded and available via LWVLC’s social media and YouTube Channel.

• Brighton City Council
There are six candidates running for four city council seats. The Brighton candidate forum will be an in-person event beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, in the council chambers at  200 N. 1st St. to which the public is invited.

This forum will also be recorded and available via LWVLC’s social media and YouTube Channel.

The public is invited to submit questions for the candidates to LWVLivCoForums@gmail.com or via the url/QR below.  Submissions must be received by Sept. 1 to be considered for consolidation with forum questions.

On-line Voter Resource VOTE411

The League has invited all city council candidates to provide written responses to questions, which will be published on the LWV’s online, nonpartisan election resource guide at Vote411.org.

VOTE411 is an initiative of LWV of the United States that provides nonpartisan, personalized candidate information, voter registration details, polling place locations, and other helpful election information for all voters nationwide. It includes questionnaire responses from local candidates on issues of local importance, as well as information on Livingston County ballot proposals.

Candidate input for the Vote411 Guide is required by Sept. 10.
