Livingston County Veteran Services, Howell Recreation, and local first responders are hosting the first annual 9/11 Never Forget 5K Trail Run/Walk, set for Saturday, Sept. 16, at Fillmore County Park, 7075 McClements Road in Brighton.

The 5K will honor the heroes of the tragic events of Sept. 11: the first responders who rushed in to provide aid and restoration, and the service members who bravely responded by serving on battlefields for the next 20 years.

“We all suffered terrible loss because of the September 11th attacks; however, it ultimately made us stronger,” said Ramon Baca, director of Livingston County Veterans Services. “Together we can ensure that no one in our community ever forgets that day and the men and women who answered the call to serve.”

Those wishing to participate can register online. All runners will receive a T-shirt and a finisher medal. Register before Aug. 1 for $25, or $30 after. Any individual or business who wants to know more about sponsorship opportunities or volunteer openings are asked to email Veteran Services at veterans@livgov.com.
