Father charged in U.S. 23 crash that killed his daughter

On Jan. 5, 2021, charges were authorized against Jonathan Osborne, 36, of Fayetteville, N.C., in the Jan. 1 accident on U.S. 23 that killed his daughter, 4, and seriously injured his wife, 33, and son, 8, who remain hospitalized at UM Medical Center in Ann Arbor.

Osborne is charged with one count of moving violation causing death, two counts of moving violation causing serious injury, and one count of open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. Bond has been set at $30,000.

Osborne was driving a 2006 Ford Expedition northbound on U.S. 23 on Jan. 1 when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to leave the roadway and strike several trees. The driver’s wife, son and daughter were in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
