The 39th Annual Fantasy of Lights Parade in Howell has named Clark Gill, owner of Aberrant Ales in downtown Howell, as its grand marshal for the event that takes place the day after Thanksgiving to kick off the holiday season.

Gill, a long-time resident of Livingston County, has been a cornerstone of the community since he opened Aberrant Ales in November 2017. What began as a hobby for him quickly evolved into a successful venture that has enriched the local culture and spirit of downtown Howell. Through his dedication and community-minded approach, Gill has become an essential part of making the Howell area a better place to live, work, and play.

The 39th Annual Fantasy of Lights event features a wide range of activities for the whole family. The fun — which includes live entertainment, letter writing to Santa, children’s craft activities, food truck option, and a chance to meet live reindeer — begins at 3 p.m. on State Street.

Participants can enter to join a 1-mile walk or run in the Fantasy 5k (registration is required) with a costume contest that will set a festive tone for the evening. The highlight of the event, of course, is the breathtaking lighted parade that illuminates Grand River Avenue.

This year’s theme for the Fantasy of Lights Parade is “Tunes and Toons,” and float entries are encouraged to decorate their float with their favorite Christmas songs or cartoons. Clark Gill, the Grand Marshal, will lead this colorful procession, adding his unique touch to the already enchanting evening.

Cobb-Hall Insurance is the presenting sponsor of this year’s event.
