Two workers at a construction site on Latson Road, across from Walmart and Lowe’s, were electrocuted Thursday, June 5, in an industrial accident.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, deputies from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and personal from the Brighton Area Fire Department responded to the commercial construction site south of Grand River Avenue in Genoa Township at about 12:30 p.m.

The preliminary investigation indicates that employees on site were pouring concrete when the boom spreader from the concrete truck hit a primary power line, causing it to fall. Two employees on the ground were electrocuted when they were hit by the power line.

Both workers were transported to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor in critical condition by Livingston County EMS.

Deputies were assisted on scene by DTE and the incident was turned over to the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

No additional information regarding victims or the company will be released at this time. Any additional information will have to come from MIOSHA, as this is a work site accident.
