Community Unitarian Universalist in Brighton (CUUB) is hosting its annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser in collaboration with Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at the CUUB building, 3333 S. Old U.S. 23 in Brighton.
Empty Bowls is a way for the community to unite to support Gleaners’ crucial mission to combat food insecurity, and everyone attending will be able to purchase unique, handcrafted ceramic bowls donated by local artists and students.
There are no set ticket prices for the event; instead, all donation amounts are welcomed. Every dollar raised will go directly to Gleaners Community Food Bank, where each $1 contribution can provide three nourishing meals for individuals and families facing hunger in southeastern Michigan.
As a gesture of gratitude, attendees who make a donation and select a beautiful, handcrafted bowl will receive a complimentary simple lunch of soup and bread, symbolizing the empty bowls that Gleaners helps to fill.
Gleaners Community Food Bank provides food to nearly 350 pantry partners including soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, schools and other agencies across the region, and supplement the efforts of those partners by offering direct service drive-up grocery distributions.
Community Unitarian Universalist in Brighton is a welcoming, supportive, and inquisitive spiritual community, actively living its liberal values of transforming lives as it reaches out in love, celebrates diversity, and advances justice.
