Sharing is caring!

Can you imagine that there would be anything that 83% of Americans of all political persuasions would agree upon?

Well, it is true and is confirmed from sources such as Business Insider, Pew Research, The University of Maryland School of Public Policy and many, many more.

The agreement? Term limits are needed for all Congressional representatives in Washington, D.C.

Too many members of Congress have made careers there for a long, long time. The median age of Congress Men and Woman is 65 years, a striking fact when the median age of the general public is 39 years. Additionally, it is a surprisingly long list of members of Congress whose ages exceeds 70, 80, even 90 years old.

The attraction of power, privilege and wealth is a strong pull that keeps these people coming back each election cycle. The thought of term limits is something this ensconced crowd is not interested in. For far too long, their promises to work for the good of all gets lost in their desire to hang on to power.

It may be surprising, but there is a way to address this situation. Article 5 of the Constitution provides a path for a gathering of the states to decide on Amendments to the Constitution, amendments such as term limits. The Convention of States is a non-profit, nonpartisan, grassroots organization working towards such a gathering. Their website, www.conventionofstates.com has information that may surprise you and provide a path that the will of 83% of all Americans can be accomplished.

Join with your fellow Americans at 19 other states and urge your Michigan State Legislator to pass a resolution for Michigan in support of a convention of states.
