EBHA recognizes community members at annual meeting

Explore Brighton Howell Area — the county’s official destination marketing authority — honored community members at its annual meeting Feb. 14 at Block Brewing Co. in Howell. Those recognized for their contributions included:

Captains on Main (Hospitality with Heart Award)

Whitney Stone of 2 Stones Events (Changemaker of the Year Award)

Mt. Brighton (CTA Business of the Year Award)

City of Brighton Police Chief Brent Pirochta (Certified Tourism Ambassador of the Year)

Mary Robinson, executive director of EBHA (the organization formerly known as the Livingston County Convention and Visitors’ Bureau) shared data from the Michigan Economic Development Council, which noted that local visitor spending increased by 10.14% in 2022.

The organization’s Certified Tourism Ambassador (CTA) program — an industry-recognized certification that aims to drive visitor spending through training of community leaders, businesses, and front-line hospitality workers about the power of tourism — has certified 217 people.
