Easter morning crash claims three family members

A vehicle heading south on U.S. 23 near Fausett Road in Tyrone Township left the roadway Easter morning and overturned, killing three of the five people inside, all of whom were related.

According to a release from the Brighton Post of the Michigan State Police, troopers were dispatched to the scene of the single-vehicle accident at about 8:25 a.m.

Dead at the scene were a 22-year-old man, a 16-year-old girl, and a 44-year-old woman. The driver of the vehicle, a 44-year-old man, was transported to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor for treatment, and he is hospitalized there in stable condition. An 18-year-old man was also transported to the University of Michigan Medical Center and remains there in critical condition.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash. Additional details about the occupants are not being released pending notification of next of kin. Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Livingston County EMS, and the Hartland Area Fire Department.
