An early-morning high-speed chase of a man on a motorcycle by a deputy with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office ended with him abandoning his bike in the front yard of a residence on Snowden Lane in Howell and fleeing on foot before being arrested.

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, a deputy doing radar enforcement on Grand River Avenue near Hacker Road observed a motorcycle traveling 70 mph in a 40-mph zone.

The deputy attempted to stop the 2006 Yamaha motorcycle, which fled westbound on Grand River Avenue at a high rate of speed that reached 100 mph. The suspect turn north on Latson Road, and entered the Glens at Rolling Ridge apartment complex, which is located behind Meijer.

Once inside the complex, the driver left the roadway and tried to drive into the subdivision north of the apartments, but he lost control before reaching Snowden Lane. He abandoned the motorcycle in the yard of a residence on Snowden Lane and fled on foot.

With the help of several witnesses and evidence located with the motorcycle, deputies identified the suspect, a 41-year-old Howell man, who was later taken into custody without further incident at his home in the 3000 block of Audrey Rae Lane.

The man is lodged at the Livingston County Jail for fleeing and eluding, along with a parole violation. During the investigation, it was determined that the man was on parole after being released from the Michigan Department of Corrections in November 2024.
