Twenty-eight students in the Livingston County Early College program graduated from high school with associate degrees, industry-recognized certificates, college credits, and/or the Michigan Early Middle College Association certification at no cost to themselves or their families. The program expenses were fully covered by each student’s home district.
These students earned a combined total of 1,518 college credits, saving their families an estimated $776,615 in tuition and books.
The graduation ceremony of the program’s sixth cohort, ranks as one of the “favorite nights of the year” for Rebecca Holman, the early college coordinator at the Livingston Educational Service Agency.
“I have the privilege of watching these students grow from start to finish,” Holman said. “Their resilience, strength, and personal growth truly fill my hear with joy. It almost feels like they’re my own kids. I get to connect with them in such a. Meaningful way, and when they finally reach this milestone, I couldn’t be more proud.”
By participating in the Early College program, students gain not only academic credits but also clarity about their future goals. Graduates leave the program with confidence, having saved both time and money on their postsecondary paths.
Livingston County Early College continues to grow as an accessible and empowering opportunity for students across all five local high schools.
