A 29-year-old Grand Blanc man was airlifted in critical condition to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor after his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado struck a tree and overturned on Argentine Road south of Bergin Road in Oceola Township.

A release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched at about 6:57 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, to the accident site. The preliminary investigation indicates the driver lost control of his vehicle as he was traveling south on Argentine Road. The vehicle left the roadway, hit a tree and overturned, trapping the driver inside. Fire and EMS personnel extricated the driver, who was wearing his seatbelt.

Speed appears to be contributing factor in the crash, which closed the roadway for three hours for the investigation and cleanup.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Howell Area Fire Department and Livingston County EMS. The accident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau.
