Sharing is caring!

Howell attorney Jay Drick decisively beat back a challenge from former Howell Mayor Nick Proctor to keep his seat on the Livingston County Board of Commissioners.

During the campaign, Drick painted Proctor as a “tax raiser,” and seemingly took credit for Livingston County’s low tax rate. Proctor, a moderate Republican popular for his bipartisan support of and work on behalf of the city, said he was running for a seat on the county board to “stop the lunacy” of the extremely right-leaning board.

In what will likely be a general election race full of fireworks, Drick will face Democrat challenge Kasey Helton of Marion Township in November.

Helton put out a plea on social media for Democrats in the district to cross over and vote for Proctor because of Drick’s extreme right-wing views. Helton labeled Drick a “Trump extremist.” You can read all about that by clicking here.
