Two members of the Livingston County Board of Commissioners were recently recognized with Michigan legislative tributes.

State Rep. Bob Bezotte presented the awards to commissioners Dave Domas and Roger Deaton at the July 8, 2024 commission meeting.

Domas’ award recognized his more than 26 years of service as a county commissioner. He was first elected in November 1993, and except for a brief hiatus, has served ever since. He represents District 2, which includes all of Deerfield  and Tyrone townships, and Oceola Township Precincts 2 and 5.

Deaton, a U.S. Navy veteran, was recognized for receiving the Michigan American Legion’s “Legionnaire of the Year” award. Deaton is currently serving his first term as a commissioner, and represents District 6, representing Precincts 2 and 6 in Brighton Township, Precincts 1, 2, 3, 5, and 9-12 in Genoa Township, and Precinct 2 in Oceola Township.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, Lt. Gov. Garlin Gilchrist, state Sen. Lana Theis, and state Rep. Ann Bollin also signed the tribute.
