Dogs, Glads set to meet under the lights tonight — with broadcast link

A couple of winning streaks will be on the line tonight when Brighton and Fowlerville meet in a nonconference game played at the Legacy Center in Green Oak Township.

The Gladiators, who got off to a cold start, have won six in a row after an eight-game (0-7-1) winless streak. The Bulldogs have won seven of their nine games in May.

One of those streaks will come to at least a temporary end as the teams play at around 7:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast by The Livingston Post. Click here for the link.

“It’s something different,” Brighton coach Charlie  Christner said. “For us, playing  the late game means we’ll be playing under the lights and that’s kind of a cool thing.”

The Bulldogs (21-9) and Gladiators (9-13-1) are playing in the second game of a high school doubleheader at Legacy, following a scheduled 5 p.m. matchup between Hartland and Grosse Pointe North.

As for Brighton, “we’re expecting (Fowlerville’s) best,” Christner said.

After tonight, the Bulldogs play in a tournament in Grand Rapids that starts Saturday morning, then have a pair of KLAA crossover games against Belleville on Monday.

“I’m sure everyone will get some playing time this weekend,” Christner said.

While the teams are looking forward to the possibility of playing under the lights, it may not be all that dark when the game ends.

“This is the time of year when we could get a doubleheader in,” Christner said of the available natural light today.

Mother Nature will have the final say. Forecasts on Thursday called for temperatures in the 60s with a 70 percent chance of rain at game  time.
