Deerfield crash claims life of Brighton man

A 33-year-old Brighton man was heading south on Green Road north of Allen Road in Deerfield Township when he lost control of his vehicle, which went off the roadway and struck a tree at about 4:43 a.m. Thursday, October. 23.

According to a release from the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, the driver — who was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash — was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Livingston County EMS.

Speed and alcohol are under investigation. The roadway remained closed for three hours for investigation and clean up.

Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from the Hartland Area Fire Department, and Livingston County EMS.

This incident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau.
