A two-car crash at the intersection of Grand River Avenue and Grand Oaks Drive in Genoa Township on Thursday afternoon sent both drivers to the hospital with serious injuries, and tied up the roadway for approximately three hours.
At about 2:13 p.m. Thursday, deputies with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department on patrol located the crash. The preliminary investigation shows that a 38-year-old Westland man driving a 2021 Chevrolet Trail Blazer west on Grand River Avenue turned left in front of a 2017 Nissan Altima being driven by a 27-year-old Dearborn resident heading east.
Both drivers were seriously injured, and both were transported to the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann Arbor for treatment by Livingston County EMS. Only one driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Alcohol and speed are both under investigation. The roadway remained closed for three hours for the investigation and clean up.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by personnel from Brighton Area Fire Department and Livingston County EMS.
This incident remains under investigation by the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Safety Bureau.
