Sharing is caring!

Livingston County Chief Probate Judge Miriam A. Cavanaugh, along with Referee Chelsea Thomason, will join Livingston County families as they celebrate this Thanksgiving season by welcoming new members to their families. Adoption Day begins at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 24, at the Livingston County Courthouse, Judicial Center, 204 S. Highlander Way, Howell, MI 48843. The families will be celebrating along with judges, court staff, and social workers as adoptions are finalized for two local children.

This day is important to create the long lasting “forever families” for the children of Livingston County who are in need of permanency and stability in their lives. Each year in November, hundreds of communities across the country organize similar events in recognition of National Adoption Day, a collective effort to help raise awareness of the need to find safe, loving and permanent homes for the more than 100,000 children waiting to be adopted from foster care in the United States.

For those looking to adopt, the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) www.mare.org is the central resource listing children in need of adoptive families. Visit the 44th Circuit Court Adoption Department for information on filing an adoption in Livingston County.
